Shadowbox & DIY Whiteboard

So since this is partially turning into my crafting/wedding ideas blog, I wanted to share the two crafts I made yesterday! Both of these things could be used at our reception or at our future home!
Craft 1- rustic shadow box!
I have been wanting to make one for the oodles and oodles of little gems here and there I've saved from things Adam and I have done or things he's given me, and I finally got inspired to just do it after Anna made a suuuuuper precious one for Mr. Jack.
I hit up Hobby Lobby once again, and bought a shadow box that would match some of my frames and some really cute fabric, and just went with it! Here's how it turned out!

the result on my wall!

Craft 2- rustic whiteboard
I got this idea from combining a few different ideas I've seen on Pinterest & other craft blogs,
and just made it my own.
I found a destroyed wood frame and used the other half of the fabric from the shadow box, hot glued everything, and voila!

the frame
the frame with the fabric hot glued to the cardboard piece that came inside the frame
a homemade whiteboard! The only marker I had was on the verge of death so it didn't show up very well, but it will be super useful in a kitchen or office or at our reception as a welcome sign!

That's all, for now!

Tagteam

This past weekend Adam came to town!! It was a long overdue visit to the Pence homestead.
Saturday morning, we did something a little crazy. We drove out to Manchester and ran in the
Warrior Dash! You can see more about this crazy race HERE.
I'm so glad we did this! It was amazing and such a fun way to us to push each other and really work together. The race was a little over 3 miles, with 12 huge obstacles along the way. At the very end of the race, we lept through two big fires and swam through a huuuuge mud pit.
Here are a few photos from our adventure.

After we made it home and washed all of the mud out of our ears, we headed to Target and Pottery Barn to begin our wedding registries!! We still have lots to add, and  I'm super excited to register for our bedding this spring and really start picking out what our room will look like!! So fun!! We're also planning on registering at Crate & Barrel next time we're in Dallas, and making small wish lists at REI & Home Depot.
Here's a quick look at a few of my favorite things we registered for so far:

a precious little kitchen set!! I love this table!!

Yes, two tree-base lamps! with coordinating burlap shades!

two matching bookshelves. love these!!
Hero Image
our shower curtain!! we also picked out all of the bathroom coordinates and towels!
Hero Image
panini maker- we hear these are pretty awesome. cough cough Andy & Becca.

an awesome 4-slice toaster with retractable cord! we're doing all of our appliances in black & stainless.
Cambria Dinnerware - Mushroom
our nice dishes!! I'm obsessed!! They're called Cambria Mushroom at Pottery Barn.
Arctic Flatware, 5-Piece Place Setting
and our nice flatware!! also at PB, called "arctic." These were the shallowest spoons of all the collections. Adam has an issue with overly deep spoons.

We may or may not have also registered for an Xbox 360 and several more board games, including a Star Wars version of Operation.
I mean, why not?? haha.
Making our registry together was quite the tag-team effort. I think we worked really well together picking and choosing what we definitely wanted while both getting things we each really liked. There were some things I Adam completely picked out, some things I completely picked out, some things we both immediately said yes to, and some things we both said, okay which do you like, which do I like, ok let's get the one in the middle.

On Sunday, we went to church and breakfast with the fam, took pictures, and went to lunch with one of my sweet bridesmaids, Liv! Love her so much!

Such a productive weekend!!
Tonight, I crafted two more fun projects and I'll show those off tomorrow!

Compromise

Who knew that planning a wedding would take a huge amount of compromise, even with someone who's your other 75%. Well, obviously I knew that, but everyone always says, the bride does everything and the groom has no say. Not the case. It's half HIS day too. Luckily I think there is only one main category right now that we are in disagreement about: music.
And luckily, we've got 267 days to decide on something!
Which by the way, is starting to fly by! I can't believe it's already mid-September!
For instance.
I found a song the other night and thought,
"oh this would be PERFECT for us to leave the ceremony to!!"
Adam thought, "it's too fast."
Well meh meh meh.
Another instance.
Adam insists on walking into the ceremony to something...grand.
Like THIS.
One can only assume how the bride-to-be felt about that one.
I guess I'm learning that not every wedding idea I have is going to pass the a-ok from my groom, and I have to be ok with that. I want it to be just as special for him as it will be for me.
And in the end, who really cares what music we use. Who's going to remember it anyways?
We will be married and happy and that's all that matters.
I guess you'll just have to come to our wedding to see what the final decision was!
Either way, I know it will be perfectly "Adam & Sarah."
-The Future Mrs.

p.s. I think we might start registering this weekend!!

I'm sure it will be an afternoon full of compromising and dreaming about OUR future home!
p.s.s We both recently got jobs!! Maybe we won't live in a cracker box after all! Only kidding. But God is so good, right when you need Him most.

Witty titles aren't my strong point

Here we go again, I know it's been a while since I've been on here, but I just like to build up anticipation.  As I sit here watching Tron Legacy and finishing up some homework, all I can think about is that a year from now I won't have any homework...but I'll probably be watching Tron Legacy then also.  Sarah seems to be doing a great job at keeping the interwebs updated on how our wedding planning is coming along.  Looks as if all things are coming together quite nicely.  The whole thing going through our heads right now is looking for a job.  I just want to be able to finally get out into the world and have some fun.  But I digress, this isn't a married blog (yet at least) and you don't particularly care about my job search so lets get Adam back on topic.  So roughly 274 days and 18 hours until I get married.  That's a pretty crazy fact to think about.  After going to Andy and Becca Sawyer's wedding, I got pretty excited.  Having all of my best family and friends there to just have some fun and be around will be great.  Though Sarah has shown some of the plans made so far for the wedding, believe me, there some great surprises that are going to be there.  Now to wrap up my time of blogging, let me leave you with this little bit to get you guys excited about that day next June: I have full control of my groom's cake...yes FULL CONTROL.
